This engagement session was photographed at the Lindsay Airport. The groom-to-be has friends who own the airplane featured and he was so excited to include this special subject in the photo shoot. It's special when the groom contributes his wishes and ideas as it is typically the bride who takes the dominant role in organizing a photography session. I always enjoy including the groom in some aspects of the preparation and planning. What made this day remarkably fun was the use of their "Top Gun" inspired wardrobe choices. While I love being a photographer, catching the latest movie trends is my favourite passed time. It's important to always stay relevant in the business of capturing precious moments in client's lives. Sometimes it all comes together beautifully, like magic, as was the case this day.
The weather could not have been more beautiful for this fall engagement session, shot outdoors. Autumn is one of the most popular times for portraits -- and rightly so! Fall's bounty of colours offer an opportunity to make wardrobe selections that compliment the bride and groom-to-be, and each other nicely, from fall bomber jackets to cozy scarves and sweaters, with choices of props ranging from airplanes in this case, to brilliant fall foliage to seasonally inspired thanksgiving and Halloween decorations. From brilliant blue skies, to the reds and golds that fall is celebrated for, there really is no limit to the creativity that autumn seems to inspire and it is one of my favourite times of year to shoot outdoor engagement sessions and portraits. Because of cooler temperatures, and the absence of summer insects, people really seem to enjoy the opportunity to be outside and capturing forever moments surrounded by some of natures finest displays of colour and light.
