Wedding venue: Brooklands Farm, Bracebridge Ontario
Brooklands Farm is a perfect venue for any wedding or other special occasion. Photography there at any time of year is spectacular, however it is during the late summer when the venue really comes to life. Not only is the outdoor space secluded and spectacular, but the indoor space offers a warm and cozy atmosphere that makes guests feel as they prepare for their larger event.
The guest house at Muskoka's Brooklands Farm is modelled like a cottage in the mountains, with rustic wood panelling from floor to ceiling, a real wood-burning fireplace that serves as the only source of heat, and a specious dining room with harvest table large enough for your entire bridal party. It is a photographer's dream, with plenty of natural light in the dining area and dark shadows that lend contrast in the main living space. Some of my favourite wedding photographs from the day were captured in the Brooklands Farm guest house. In the case of this wedding, which took place on a hot summer day, the front and back door were both open to provide air flow through the living space, and the gals were busy adjusting their dresses, relaxing, and discussing the events to unfold. It was the perfect way to start a Muskoka wedding day. A covered porch in the back is an ideal spot for your morning coffee as you overlook the farmland fields and pond. It was here that I captured images for each dress, then a fun portrait of the bridesmaids with their matching cowgirl boots -- real rustic country girls at heart!
