It can be difficult to find unique locations for engagement photos in Simcoe County. The Orillia airport is one such location that is both inspiring and intriguing, offering open spaces for silhouettes with the small aircrafts, as well as a small forested area in the back.
Silhouettes are a photography technique used to emphasize shape and background elements in an image. In this case, the airplane was, of course, the most important feature for the airport engagement pictures, and deserved at least one image where it was showcased. The broad wings and propeller are unmistakeable, even if you might be surprised to see a plane in an engagement photo! Since it was a cloudy evening, it would have been unsafe to actually fly the airplane during the photo session, and thus I used my angle (low to the ground) to make the sky fill the frame. This gives the illusion that the airplane is in the sky, while still leaving enough ground that it makes sense for the engaged couple to be standing beside it, rather than floating in mid-air.
If you are looking for a unique Orillia engagement session location, consider the local airport for your photos!
